What this tab covers Who makes it and how much: world capacity and output, utilisation, the top producing countries and companies globally and in India, concentration, new capacity coming, and each region's position.

| Measure | Figure | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| **World capacity** | about 10 Mt/yr world (indicative) | | indicative; GlobalData gives additions only |
| **World output** | about 7.5 Mt (2024, indicative) | | indicative |
| **Capacity utilisation** | about 70-75% (indicative) | Chinese BPA plants ran below 70% from September 2025 (OPIS, Dec 2025). | OPIS, Dec 2025 |
| **Concentration** | China about 55%; top three about 72% (indicative) | Covestro, SABIC, Kumho P&B, Nan Ya, Chang Chun, Mitsubishi Chemical, Wanhua, Lihuayi and Hengli are leading producers (indicative). | indicative |

#### Largest producers: India

| Company | Country | Volume | Year | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Reliance Industries (Jamnagar BPA plant)** operated by Reliance O2C; largest planned in Asia | India | 0.5 Mt/yr planned | 2030 | [GlobalData via Offshore Technology, Nov 2025](https://www.offshore-technology.com/analyst-comment/asia-drive-most-global-bisphenol-a-capacity-additions-2030/) |
| **Deepak Chem Tech (Deepak Nitrite)** 165 kt/yr polycarbonate plant at Dahej using Trinseo Stade technology, FY2027-28; BPA supply plan not stated in sources reached | India | not published | 2028 | [Deepak Nitrite annual report 2024-25; Plastemart, Jul 2026](https://54thannualintegratedreport.godeepak.com/our-expansion-initiatives.html) |

India has no BPA production today (indicative) and imports all it uses for epoxy and other resins. Reliance's 0.5 Mt/yr Jamnagar plant (2030) and Deepak's 165 kt/yr polycarbonate plant (FY2027-28) would create India's first BPA-polycarbonate chain.

#### Position by region

| Region | Position |
|---|---|
| **US** | Mature producer base; food-contact uses under scrutiny but not banned federally (indicative). |
| **EU** | Food-contact ban from 2025 under Regulation (EU) 2024/3190; thermal paper restriction since 2020; phenol-acetone closures upstream. |
| **India** | Fully import-dependent today; Reliance and Deepak projects aim at import substitution. |
| **China** | Largest producer; adding most new capacity while running below 70% (OPIS, Dec 2025). |
| **Japan** | Mitsubishi Chemical and Idemitsu are technology holders; mature. |
| **Middle East** | SABIC produces BPA in Saudi Arabia and is building in China. |
