FAOSTAT puts world coconut oil output at 3.12 million tonnes in 2023. The Philippines produced 38.8%, Indonesia 20.7% and India 17.6%, so three countries supply over three-quarters. An HHI of 2,308 means moderate concentration, close to the high band. Output has gone nowhere for three decades: 3.35 million tonnes in 1990, 3.63 million in 2010 and 2.91 million in 2020. Ageing trees, slow replanting and typhoon damage explain much of the stagnation, while palm oil captured the growth in vegetable-oil demand.
