The sources differ. The USGS estimates 2.53 million t in 2024 and 2.5 million t in 2025, with the United States at 29%, Denmark 15% and France 10% in 2025. World Mining Data shows 2.2 million t in 2024, with the US at 33% and China at 19%. Its HHI of 1,676 indicates moderate concentration. In WMD data, output peaked at 2.6 million t in 2021. US production fell from 998,000 t in 2021 to about 720,000 t in 2025.
