USGS estimates world ammonia output at 156 Mt of nitrogen in 2024 and 160 Mt in 2025. China made 49 Mt in 2025, about 31% of the total. Russia and India made 15 Mt each and the US 14 Mt. Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Egypt follow. Plants cluster where gas is cheap: 57% of US capacity is in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The top four countries make more than half of world output, with one dominant producer. New capacity is going to Asia, Eastern Europe and North America, including proposed low-carbon plants.

- **Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Indonesia group)**: 3.58 Mt urea produced (plus 2.77 Mt ammonia) (2025)

- **IFFCO**: 4.83 Mt urea produced (total fertilisers 9.06 Mt) (FY2026)
- **Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals**: 3.37 Mt urea produced (3.46 Mt in FY2025) (FY2026)
- **National Fertilizers Ltd (NFL)**: 3.64 Mt urea produced (3.71 Mt in FY2025); also runs urea import tenders (FY2026)
- **Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF)**: 2.11 Mt urea produced (Thal 1.73 + Trombay 0.38; 2.06 Mt in FY2025) (FY2026)
