For farm commodities: production, ending stocks and stocks-to-use for the top five producers (USDA, October 2026). It also covers inventories and stockpiles.

#### Stockholding and policy

No recycling applies; used cooking oil is collected for biodiesel in some markets. Stocks to watch are producer-country inventories: Malaysia ended 2025 with 3.05 Mt (up 79%, MPOB) and Indonesia with 2.07 Mt of CPO plus PKO (GAPKI). India holds no strategic edible oil reserve in the sources found; it manages supply through import duties, which it cut in May 2025. India's crude palm oil futures are suspended by SEBI since 20 December 2021; the ban on seven agri contracts (incl. soybean and derivatives, crude palm oil, mustard) was extended to 31 March 2027 (The Week/PTI, 27 March 2026).

Crude palm oil keeps for months in tanks but slowly loses quality, so stocks turn over faster than grains. The key monthly indicator is Malaysian end-month stocks, published by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, which traders watch closely. The trees themselves are the long-term stock: yields respond to rainfall with a lag of many months. Ageing trees and slow replanting reduce future output regardless of current prices.
