# Scandium: Movement

Scandium has no customs code of its own and falls under rare-earth headings, so flows are traced from shipping records. They show US scandium oxide imports of about 4 t in 2025. Over 2021-24 they came from Japan (89%) and China (11%). The Japan share reflects refining of Philippine feedstock. In April 2025 China added export controls on scandium metal, alloys, oxides and compounds. By December 2025 those controls remained, though China began issuing general licences to selected exporters. Canada and Australia are building alternative supply.

No distinct HS trade code for this commodity, so trade flows are not charted.
