# Thallium: Production

Most producers withhold data. USGS estimates world output at about 10,000 kg in 2023, the latest year available. China, Kazakhstan and Russia are thought to lead primary production. The United States has made none since 1981. No HHI is available, but supply clearly rests on a few smelters in three countries. Thallium-rich deposits are known in Brazil, China, North Macedonia and Russia. Recent Chinese studies found uranium-molybdenum-thallium mineralisation, a new geological setting.

No global production series is published for this commodity in the datasets used.

Company volumes are not published on a comparable basis.

#### Largest producers by company, India

India has no reported thallium production (USGS 2026 lists none), and no Indian zinc or lead smelter reports thallium recovery. India imports small amounts of thallium compounds and radiopharmaceuticals; thallium is not on India's 2023 critical list.
