Comtrade covers zirconium ores and concentrates under HS 2615.10, worth $1.4 billion of exports in 2024. South Africa supplied 43.5% by value, then Indonesia (10%), Senegal (9%) and Australia (8%). Australia's share looks low beside its mining lead. Some of its zircon likely ships in mixed concentrates or under other codes. China takes 62.5% of imports, far ahead of India (8%) and Spain (7%). The trade therefore runs mainly from African and Australian coasts to Chinese ceramics and chemical plants.
