Caesium: Production

Why nobody publishes cesium output figures

What this tab covers Who produces it and how much: world output over recent years, the top producing countries with their shares, USGS world figures for 2024 and 2025, and the largest producing companies globally and in India.

No official production data exist. USGS lists Canada, China, Germany and Russia as the main producers of cesium products. Mining is almost a single-site affair. The Tanco Mine in Manitoba reported only intermittent output in 2025, from ore and stockpiles. In Zimbabwe, cesium is recovered from Bikita Mine tailings and shipped to China. Recent US imports of cesium chemicals came from China and Germany. Concentration cannot be scored with an HHI, but supply clearly rests on very few mines and plants.

No global production series is published for this commodity in the datasets used.

Largest producers by company, global

Company volumes are not published on a comparable basis.

Largest producers by company, India

India has no cesium production or reserves. USGS notes low cesium concentrations in Indian geothermal systems. India imports small quantities of cesium compounds for catalysts, laboratories and medical isotopes, and cesium is not on India's 2023 critical list.
