Onshore wind: Relationships

Every element and industry that Onshore wind is linked to, and how. Each pair has its own card explaining the relationships between the two.

• Copper: An onshore wind farm uses about 2.5 to 7 tonnes of copper per MW, most of it in cables and earthing across the site rather than in the turbines, so the record 155.3 GW of onshore wind added in 2025 was a sizeable copper demand. (researched)
• Steel: Onshore wind needs steel; their prices have moved together.
• AC transmission: Energy flows from onshore wind to AC transmission.
• Bisphenol A: Their prices have moved together.
• Data centres and cloud: Data centres and cloud depends on onshore wind.
• Electrolysers: Energy flows from onshore wind to electrolysers.
• Epoxy resins: Their prices have moved together.
• Gas turbines and combined cycle: Their prices have moved together.
• Mechanical power transmission: Their prices have moved together.
• Natural gas: Their prices have moved together.
• Rare earths: Onshore wind needs rare earths.
• Transformers and power electronics: Energy flows from onshore wind to transformers and power electronics.
• Unsaturated polyester resins: Their prices have moved together.
• Wind: Energy flows from wind to onshore wind.
