Medical devices

Medical-device makers supply everything from syringes, catheters and implants to imaging scanners, monitors and diagnostic tests used by hospitals, clinics and patients. MedTech Europe estimates the European medical technology market at about €173 billion in 2025 and puts Europe at 25.5% and the US at 46.4% of world device sales (manufacturer prices, excluding diagnostics), so the world market is of the order of €600-700 billion (rough estimate). Large US and European groups lead high-tech equipment and implants, while China and India are large makers of low-cost consumables.1

India. India still imports about 70% of its medical devices by value, with electromedical equipment imports alone of about US$ 5.3 billion in 2024-253. Domestic firms are strong in consumables, stents, valves and diagnostics, and production-linked incentives and device parks aim to move into imaging and electronics.
