Amino acids (lysine, methionine): Characteristics

Why feed buyers pay for digestible content, not tonnes

What this tab covers The physical and chemical properties that set its grade, price and uses, with the commercial grades and the standards that define them.

Feed buyers pay for digestible amino acid content, not tonnes. Lysine HCl is about 78% lysine; lysine sulphate about 55% (indicative). Methionine is sold as 99% DL-methionine or 88% liquid hydroxy analogue, whose relative bio-efficacy is disputed. Flowability, dust and stability in pelleting matter to mills.
