Ultra-pure wet chemicals: Production
Where the purest acids are made and who buys them
What this tab covers Who makes it and how much: world capacity and output, utilisation, the top producing countries and companies globally and in India, concentration, new capacity coming, and each region's position.| Measure | Figure | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| World capacity | not published | Suppliers add capacity next to new fabs in Arizona, Texas, Kumamoto, Dresden and Chinese clusters (indicative). | Indicative |
| World output | not published as tonnage; $4.58 billion (2025) | By country market size (2025): US $0.94 billion, China $0.72 billion, Taiwan $0.46 billion, South Korea $0.31 billion, Canada $0.12 billion. These figures look low for Taiwan and Korea relative to fab capacity and should be treated as indicative. | Straits Research (2026) |
| Capacity utilisation | not published | Integrated device makers are 58.41% of demand by value and foundries the fastest-growing at 10.14% a year. | Straits Research (2026) |
| Concentration | Asia Pacific 39.8% of demand by value (2025); supply led by Japanese, Korean, US and European specialists | No supplier shares were found. Japanese firms are strongest in the highest purities. | Straits Research (2026); indicative |
| New capacity | market to $10.05 billion by 2034 (Straits Research) | Growth tracks new fabs: US (Arizona, Texas), Japan (Kumamoto), Germany (Dresden), China, and India's Tata-PSMC Dholera fab (up to 50,000 wafers a month, targeted FY2029-30). | Straits Research (2026); India Briefing (2026) |

- South Korea: Soulbrain, Dongjin Semichem, OCI
- United States: Honeywell, Avantor, Entegris, Technic; US market $0.94 billion
- Europe: BASF, Solvay, Merck
- China and Taiwan: markets $0.72 billion and $0.46 billion; growing domestic suppliers (indicative)
- India: no confirmed semiconductor-grade producer

Largest producers: India
| Company | Country | Volume | Year | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Navin Fluorine International electronic grade not confirmed | India | 60 kt/yr anhydrous HF (technical base) | 2026 | HF tile (ChemIn Digest; 5paisa) |
| Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals electronic grade not confirmed | India | 39.08 kt/yr H2O2 (100% basis, technical) | 2025 | hydrogen peroxide tile |
| Deepak Phenolics (Deepak Nitrite) electronic grade not confirmed | India | not published | 2025 | isopropanol tile |
India makes all major base chemicals but has no confirmed semiconductor-grade wet chemical plant. Tata Electronics signed MoUs in September 2026 with Fujifilm, JSR and others to localise photoresists and advanced fab chemicals, and Merck said Indian fabs need local ultra-pure chemicals (Indian Infrastructure, Sep 2026).
Position by region
| Region | Position |
|---|---|
| US | Largest market by value in Straits' estimate ($0.94 billion); new fabs pull supplier plants. |
| EU | BASF, Solvay and Merck supply; PFAS rules affect some fluorinated chemistries (indicative). |
| India | Base chemicals available; semiconductor grades imported; Semicon 2.0 incentives for materials and specialty chemicals. |
| China | $0.72 billion market; domestic suppliers growing under localisation policy (indicative). |
| Japan | Leader in top purities; 2019 export curbs on HF to Korea showed leverage (indicative). |
| Middle East | No meaningful production found. |
