Barite: Stocks

Why many countries show no barite reserves at all

What this tab covers How much is left and how much is held. For minerals and energy: reserves, current output, years of supply and recycling for the top five countries. For farm commodities: production, ending stocks and stocks-to-use for the top five producers (USDA, October 2026). It also covers inventories and stockpiles.

USGS MCS 2026, Barite (world mine production and reserves table). Years of supply = reserves ÷ current output; reserves grow as prices and technology change, so this is not a countdown.

Recycling

No recycling: barite is left downhole or dispersed in products (USGS: none; EU CRM 2023 end-of-life recycling input 0%). USGS counts only reserves defined since the 4.1 specific-gravity standard, so Morocco shows none. India's USGS reserve (51 Mt) is far above the C-DEP estimate for Mangampet of under 23 Mt in 2024. World identified resources are about 740 Mt (USGS).

World reserves are not totalled. China reports 120 Mt, Iran 100 Mt, Kazakhstan 85 Mt and India 51 Mt. USGS counts only reserves defined since the 4.1 standard, so many countries show none. No reserve life is computed. World resources are about 2 billion t, but only 740 Mt are identified. Barite pumped into wells stays underground, so there is no recycling. EU end-of-life recycling input is 0%. There is no US stockpile.

Recycling

End-of-life recycling input rate in the EU: 0% of demand met from post-consumer scrap (EU CRM study 2023).

None.
