Tin: Production
Why a spread-out supply is still so fragile
What this tab covers Who produces it and how much: world output over recent years, the top producing countries with their shares, USGS world figures for 2024 and 2025, and the largest producing companies globally and in India.China supplied 25% of 2024 mine output, Indonesia 18%, Peru 11%, DR Congo 8%, Bolivia 8% and Myanmar 7%. The HHI of 1,349 counts as unconcentrated, but that hides fragile supply. Many sources are informal, conflict-affected or subject to state policy. World output moved within a narrow band, 264,000 to 300,000 tonnes, over 2020-24 (World Mining Data). USGS estimates 2025 output at 290,000 tonnes. Myanmar fell from 20,000 to 12,000 tonnes, and Bolivia from 21,200 to 15,000, while Indonesia rose. The US has not mined tin since 1993.
