Uranium: Production

Why output jumped 28% as prices revived idle mines

What this tab covers Who produces it and how much: world output over recent years, the top producing countries with their shares, USGS world figures for 2024 and 2025, and the largest producing companies globally and in India.

World Mining Data gives 71,437 tonnes for 2024 (U3O8 basis), up 28% from 55,718 tonnes in 2020 as higher prices revived idled mines. Kazakhstan supplied 38%, Canada 24% and Namibia 12%, followed by Australia, Uzbekistan and Russia. The HHI of 2,319 counts as moderately concentrated. Processing is more concentrated than mining. Conversion and enrichment are run by a handful of firms, including Russia's Rosatom, Urenco, Orano and China's CNNC. For Western utilities, Russia's place in enrichment matters more than its modest share of mining.
