Beryllium: Movement
How Kazakhstan exports and China imports almost all of it
What this tab covers How it flows between countries: the largest bilateral trade routes drawn on a world map, 2024 UN Comtrade export and import values with the top exporters and importers by share, plus shipping routes, chokepoints and trade restrictions.Comtrade records only $29.1 million of unwrought beryllium and powder exports (HS 8112.12) in 2023. Kazakhstan, which processes beryllium, supplied 81.1%, followed by the UK (10.7%) and the US (5.7%). Imports of $18.1 million went overwhelmingly to China (93.8%), with France at 3.0%. So the unwrought metal trade is mainly a Kazakhstan-to-China flow. US-mined beryllium is mostly processed at home into alloys and products. USGS shows US imports in 2021-24 from Kazakhstan (31%), Latvia (25%) and Japan (19%), and US exports falling 43% in 2025.
