Pumice: Stocks

How long known US pumice would last

What this tab covers How much is left and how much is held. For minerals and energy: reserves, current output, years of supply and recycling for the top five countries. For farm commodities: production, ending stocks and stocks-to-use for the top five producers (USDA, October 2026). It also covers inventories and stockpiles.

Top five countries: reserves, output and years of supply

USGS MCS 2026, Pumice and Pumicite. Years of supply = reserves ÷ current output; reserves grow as prices and technology change, so this is not a countdown.

Recycling

Little to no known recycling (USGS 2026). Reserves are not quantified for most countries; US identified resources exceed 25 Mt and total resources in the western US may exceed 1 billion t (USGS). Several countries' figures include pozzolan and volcanic tuff.

No world reserve figure exists, and USGS says quantitative estimates are lacking for most countries. US reserves are described as large. Identified US resources exceed 25 million t, about 58 years at 2025 output. Total resources in the western and Great Plains states are at least 250 million t and may exceed 1 billion t. Large resources occur on every continent. The real limit on supply is access. Legal challenges and public-land designations could close off known western deposits. Recycling is little to none.
