Yttrium: Movement
Why European suppliers are really re-processors
What this tab covers How it flows between countries: the largest bilateral trade routes drawn on a world map, 2024 UN Comtrade export and import values with the top exporters and importers by share, plus shipping routes, chokepoints and trade restrictions.Yttrium has no customs code of its own and falls under rare-earth headings, so flows are traced from shipping records. They show US 2021-24 imports from China (70%), Germany (11%), Austria (8%) and South Korea (4%). Nearly all came from concentrates processed in China, so the European suppliers are re-processors. In April 2025 China placed yttrium metals, oxides, alloys and compounds under export control. By December 2025 the controls still stood, though general licences were being issued to selected exporters.
No distinct HS trade code for this commodity, so trade flows are not charted.
